xmas things

I haven't been doing much lately. I told myself I'd have a super productive winter break where I would relearn derivatives and get a head start on integrals again but so far that hasn't happened. There's only a week until school resumes and although I'm a bit excited, I'm also already stressed just thinking about it :((

Last week on tuesday I hung out with my friend layssa for the first time in a while and it was really nice to catch up with her. She and I always have tons to talk about and I feel like we think in very similar ways and in turn, we share many similar feelings in terms of self perception and awareness. We went to a sushi restaurant on robson I think it was called Momo Sushi or something like that. We got pretty full but after sitting there and talking for so long I guess we got a lil hungry again so we went to Thierry. It was my first time actually going there to eat despite the fact that literally everyone in vancouver has gone there and posts ig pics of their desserts from there. It was such a cute lil place and it was super busy but luckily we snagged a seat in their heated outdoor area. I got the caramel, banana + coffee choux and although I normally don't like banana things besides actual bananas, it tasted so good!!! Honestly it was so sweet that I started to get sick of it, but I finished it and it was so yummy. I'm def gonna go and try more of their desserts in the future :))

On christmas eve it was my mom's side's christmas dinner party!!

This isn't even all of the presents tbh there's still more on the right and left sides of the pic...... I totally should've panorama'd it but I didn't!!! Anyway it was a really nice dinner party since there's tons of people of all ages and we played a bunch of fun games and ate good food. As for the gifts I received, I got a few giftcards for metrotown (which I plan on using towards my macbook so yay!!) and some other small cute things like a scarf, nail polish, etc.

On christmas day it was my dad's side's christmas dinner which also has tons of people but this year there was an unusually large amount of people since all the cousins are older (in the 20s and 30s) and they all brought their gfs and bfs and there were a few new faces at the dinner this year! I remember in the beginning all of us and the cousins were just hanging out in the hallway-ish area between the living room and kitchen and there were just so many of us that the house was just way too warm. The food was also really good (especially the super creamy delicious cheesy potatoes baked in a casserole dish that my uncle always makes....... idek what you call it but I rmb at one point we called it the "famous potatoes" haha).

Then from boxing day (fri) til sunday I worked and stuff. I wanted to go shopping on boxing day but I was working 10:30-2:30 which is such a terrible time!!! I still ended up going to metrotown after work though since it's super close to my workplace. All I got was bath and body works hand soaps because I got 12 for $2.50 each!!! Heck yes. I tried to look around other stores but I didn't see anything I really wanted, plus the mall was so congested and hot.

That's about it. In a few hours I'll be having sushi for dinner with some ppl from my math 12 class which will be fun since we usually do a picnic in the summer and catch up.

P.S. lately ive been picking at my nails really badly and idk why!!!!! I think it may be because I'm bored bc at this point I shouldn't be that stressed but I'm picking them to the point where its making the skin around my nails hurt nooo :(( I think i should paint them or something cause that's the only way I can stop picking at them but my nails r so ugly right now that painting them will probably make them uglier :((((

brunch, lipstick, stuff u dont care about

Yesterday I went out for brunch with my homies at Catch 122. So many people lately have been posting pics of their food at Catch 122 and yesterday was my first time going and it was actually really good!!! I can't say anything about their dinner menu but everything on the brunch menu sounded so yummy, I ended up getting 'the catch 122' which is described as 'poached eggs, house-smoked and cured wild salmon, dill creme fraîche, arugula, croissant, yukon nugget potato hash'. It was our lil madajaskar reunion so we exchanged xmas gifts and we went downtown afterwards and we wanted to take photos in the UO photobooth but it was out of order!!! :(( the sad thing is that we really wanted to use that photobooth because there's 3 of us and it comes with 3 copies, whereas most other ones only come with 2. We ended up not even taking any photobooth pics and we looked so cute for nothing!!! *pouts* lol we should've asked the waiter at Catch 122 to take a pic of us but we thought we would just go to the photobooth so we didn't. Oh wellll.

Anyway lately I've been trying to get into lipstick and stuff and I've waited to do that kind of kylie jenner matte lipstick look. I have a Revlon lipstick called 'mauve it over' which people have said is a dupe for Mac's 'velvet teddy' and the lady at the Mac counter put the 'staunchly stylish' liner with it and it looked super cute. My revlon lipstick is kinda old though (but not like disgustingly old lol) so I'm thinking about actually getting the velvet teddy lipstick soon. I'm just a brand whore honestly but whatever!!!!!

Later on today in a few hours I'm gonna meet up with my friend layssa for dinner and I'm excited cause I haven't seen her in ages and although we don't hang out or text much, whenever we do get together we have so much to talk about!!! Sometimes when she drives, at the end she'll drop me off at my house but we end up sitting in her car and talking for like an hour first before I actually go. It's crazy how much we have to talk about but yenno what they say, true friendship means hating the same people.......... *sips milk tea* lol anyway!!

xmas market, yung lean, idk??

Lately I just haven't really been in the mood to take pictures of stuff I've been doing but on wednesday I went to the Christmas Market (it's a German xmas market) with a few friends because we had a groupon deal. It was super crowded in there but everything was super cute. The booths themselves looked so cute and there was tons of food. I had my first hurricane potato ever (I know how shocking) and it was delish. The groupon deal came with a free carousel ride so we did that and it was very short but kind of fun because I hadn't been on a carousel in ages!! I wish I tried more of the different foods they had there but oh well, I now have a season's pass so I can go back but I'm not really in the mood to be out in the cold and rain since it's outdoor.

Yesterday I went to the Yung Lean concert at Vogue and honestly it wasn't that great haha, but I'm still glad I saw him live. I wish I bought a tee afterward the show since I think they were selling the Unknown Death shirts there (I saw some guys afterwards wearing them and holding I'm guessing the tees they were wearing before). I totally should have bought one since it'd be soo much cheaper than buying it online since the shipping is insane since it's from probably Sweden plus I'm probably gonna be charged by customs. I regret not going back and getting a tee a lot now. But anyway as for the show itself, yung lean and the sad boys aren't exactly that entertaining as performers and they didn't even crowd surf (I'm gonna guess it's bc apparently the last time he performed in Vancouver at Fortune they dropped him??? lmao) and yeah. Everyone was so rowdy though but I swear theyre all lil high school fuckboys...... some were kinda cute tho I gotta admit lol.

Yesterday I had my linguistics presentation (I feel terrible because I contributed so less to my group..... I hope they didn't write shit about me in the evaluations..........). It was so boring but I'm glad it's over with now!!! Sitting in a lecture hall and watching presentations for 2.5 hours isn't exactly my idea of a fun friday night but whatever, I'm officially done with term 1 and now I just have to wait for marks to be posted which I think will be in less than a week!!! I'm so nervous for my chem mark because I know I failed u_u but I'm curious about astronomy considering how badly I did on the final.......

Anyway I haven't done ANY christmas shopping for anyone at all yet (except for myself I guess lmao) which is so bad. I'm always such a last minute person when it comes to xmas shopping!!! Here are a few purchases I got for myself recently though:

The Too Faced Primed & Poreless pressed powder is pretty good (I already talked about it in my previous post) but tbh the packaging looks so cheap and bad.... it literally looks like a cheap plastic container like some fake ass lil compact that comes in a doll set...... but idk that's just my onion

On the left is a cute pair of fleece pj pants (I love fair isle bc it makes it look so cozy and wintery and cute!!!) I got them from Old Navy on sale for $9 so yay! And on the right is a onesie with cats all over it that my friend Madz got for me!!!!!!!! A ONESIE. WITH CATS. Oh my god I was literally so excited when I got it and I tried it on and it was so freaking cute ahhhhhhhhhhh

Anyway that's about all I have to say!! This winter break I'm gonna try to be productive and maybe start relearning integrals so that I'll actually do well this time around in math 105 and I think I'll try to read some books and stuff as well. Bye bbs

my winter break has (kinda) begun!!!!

My winter break has (unofficially) started!!!! I still have my linguistics presentation on friday but there isn't much to do for it. I wrote my astronomy final on monday and it went absolutely HORRIBLY but on the plus side, no more exams!!! The exam itself was so difficult and I studied really hard for about 5 hours up until the exam and I think by then my brain was exhausted and I just couldn't do it. I'm praying that I did decently on it though because I was so discouraged while writing it that I literally began calculating my final mark for the course if I got 50 on the final (which would leave me with about 72% in the course but I'm aiming for an A- here!!!). I believe the minimum I need on the final in order to achieve an A- would be a mark of about 70% on the final which I pray that I got. On a brighter note, prior to the exam, I went to my TA to pick up my last 2 lab reports and I got 96% on each one them which I was pleasantly surprised about considering I had done them so last minute and rushed them and actually skipped some small things that the lab manual specifically said to do such as calculating uncertainties and things like that. Oh well. I think my TA is just a very easy marker, and I'm pretty sure he likes my lab partner and I. Not in that way. Yenno.

Yesterday I went to school to pick up my Creative Writing quiz (that's actually not really a quiz if you think about it since it's worth 30% of my grade) and I got 88 on that so I did quite well! I also finally dealt with my student loans (which I'd been irresponsibly neglecting....) and I'm surprised how quickly the process was!! I honestly should have done it earlier haha. Hopefully I'll get the money in time for second term.

In fact I felt so productive yesterday for dealing with my student loans that I FINALLY got ID today!!! I was planning on just getting a BC ID (since I don't have a driver's license....... fuck that) but I ended up getting a BC Services Card which combines your BC ID with your care card so I guess that's a lot more convenient. I went shopping with my friend Madalene today and I bought a few things today!! I'll take a pic of my purchases another day (since it's like 11:30 at night rn and I wanna take the pics in natural lighting). But I'll post a cute pic of me in the aa change room (I love how minimal the change rooms are like why cant all stores be like this???? like why yall tryna ruin my mirror pics for w yo uglyass changeroom backgrounds.........)

I'm just wearing the AA Le New Big Tee (one of my fave big tees ever!!!), Garage leggings, and my Topshop ankle boots that I wear like all the time.

I was trying on the Easy Jeans because I wasn't sure if I should buy the Groupon where it was $40 off a purchase of $80 since I could totally use it for the jeans but I ended up not really liking them on me (xs fit my legs but it felt a bit tight on my waist and s fit my waist but it was looser on the legs u_u). However I did go to Sephora and I bought the Too Faced Primed & Poreless Pressed Powder because I wanted a pressed powder to carry around for touch ups (loose powder is just way too annoying to bring around) and when I got home I tried it on (as I was a bit shiny) and it worked pretty well! It didn't look that cakey so I was happy. I'll give it a few more tries but I think so far I like it. As for the Bobbi Brown bronzing powder I purchased several days ago, I'm thinking about exchanging it for a darker shade. I used it today and I don't know... it just doesn't seem dark enough to really give a strong contour. I'll probably give it a couple more tries though before I bring it back to the store.

We also went to the pet store at the mall and I know pet stores aren't the best places to get pets but the puppies and kittens there are just so darn cute!!! I mean I love the puppies but they're so boring. THE CAT SECTION'S WHERE IM AT. Look at this adorable persian kitty!!!!!

LOOK AT THIS CUTE LIL FLUFFY PERSIAN PLAY W ME!!!! The pact has been made!!!!!!! Hahaha. But honestly the cats are so much more fun because sometimes when you put your fingers on the glass, they start licking the glass where your fingers are or they touch the glass with their paw and it's like awww ok stand back bbys im gonna smash this glass open and rescue all of u!! (I wish) Anyway this white persian was an odd-eyed kitty with one brownish coloured eye and the other blue. I used to think that persians were ugly as a kid because of their squished faces but lately they've been really growing on me haha!

Yesterday I went to the Central Library downtown to study (I go there often to study b/c there's a lot of food around there and also I like to quickly shop for a couple things before/after). The library was having a huge 50% off sale on used books so I ended up getting a book called 'Archives of the Universe' by Marcia Bartusiak for only $1!!! I'm super happy about that. It's a hardcover but sadly it didn't come with the actual cover (but I really really wish it did because I googled it and the cover looks so pretty!!!) I picked that up as I was leaving. When I first came in though I saw the book sale and I drifted to the science section where I found a book (I forgot what it was called) about stars and constellations and I'm kind of mad that I put it down and didn't buy it because afterwards when I went back for it it was gone :(((

I also went to the Sephora and picked up the Bobbi Brown bronzing powder in the shade Natural and the Nars highlighting blush in Albatross. It's funny though because waaaaay back in high school (yeah high school feels like a very long time ago now..... it's only been 1.5 years since I've graduated though u_u) for prom I got my makeup done and the lady used this bronzer on me to contour and I LOVED the way it looked because it was so matte and nice (it wasn't orangey or anything) but back then I never would have dropped $45 on a bronzer. So I've been using various ones over the years (mainly the Rimmel natural bronzer in 022 sun bronze) but now I contour to the point that it is probably unhealthy so I decided to buy this lovely lil thing!! I've been wanting the Nars Albatross for a long long time as well but I was in a really spend-y mood. Plus I needed VIB for 2015........... but that's not the point lol. Not to mention I've been addicted to watching highlight and contour vids on youtube lately. I mean like I can't believe I used to not highlight on an everyday basis.....???? Crazy. It's because my skin is quite oily and I was afraid of looking like a total oil slick BUT ever since I got the Ben Nye banana powder oiliness has not been too big of an issue!! Honestly, the banana powder saved my life. For years and years I've been trying to figure out a way to prevent my mascara/eyeliner from smudging onto my undereyes (I've literally developed a habit of periodically wiping my undereyes with my fingers which is kinda nasty and so so bad for my undereye concealer!!! But ever since I started putting the banana powder under my eyes and a bit on my t-zone I've noticed that my eye makeup hardly smudges AT ALL anymore onto my undereyes and I stay matte for so much longer!!! Heck yes!!!! I also decided to throw in a couple MAC purchases I got over the past few weeks, which are the lip pencil in Spice and Prep + Prime highlighter in Light Boost. I love the Kim K look that the highlighter pen gives me but I can't be bothered to use it in my everyday makeup routine haha. It is just way too much work!! I've only used it for going out and once for school (mind you it made me late for my 8am class.... but at least I looked cute as hell). The spice liner is a bit too dark for me (I was going for kylie jenner/camilakilla lips) so I'm thinking about trying out something lighter like Subculture or maybe even the Velvet Teddy lipstick. It looked nice in pics when I dabbed on some matte nude lipstick over top of the Spice liner though but in person my lips didn't look so cute.

I'm wondering, should I do swatches for all the products I've mentioned above?? Haha I've never done makeup swatches on this blog before and idk that feels so ~srs~ like I'm just a stressed lil 19 yr old who casually blogs about her lame life and complains and cries and talks about school all the time?? Well you guys can google for swatches I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Anyway (here I am talking about school again..... cause school is literally my life) my last exam is tomorrow!!! I'm so excited to get it over with and enjoy my winter break!!!! I mean I still have my linguistics presentation on friday but idgaf!!!!!!!!!! Tomorrow's exam is astronomy and I'm stressing out so much over it because my notes and everything are a mess right now and I literally lost a couple of my lecture notes and I'm literally sitting in a sea of astronomy notes right now while sipping milk tea and trying not to panic. On the plus side my exam is at 7pm so I have plenty of time to study tmr and I can easily leech off my friend's notes for the stuff I lost...... so all is well I guess. My ochem exam last friday went terribly though like ima just tell you I think I failed the course but it was really reassuring the know that a lot of other people have failed the course in the past but like it's still shitty to waste $500. During the exam though there was about a minute left before the exam was over and I was just sitting there done so I was awkwardly looking around at the walls of the lecture hall where I was writing it but then my eyes fell upon the girl's exam who was sitting in front and kind of diagonally from me and I was like omg bc in the written section there are 2 full pages of reactions where you draw the product (no mechanisms) worth almost 30 marks and hers was COMPLETELY BLANK and I'm like gurl what r u doing at least I attempted mine!!!! But yeah

Anyway back to astronomy pce!!!

My studying has been going to shit but on a brighter note I`m super excited because I ordered a few things from American Apparel today for their cyber monday promo!!!!! The main thing I got was the Unisex Flex Fleece Club Jacket!!

I wanted the Wool Club one but that one is hella expensive and ya gurl is broke!!!! It's $195 which I just cannot make myself spend on an item like this. However the Fleece Club one is $80 plus the promo is 40% off everything so I got it for $48! Pretty sweet. I also threw in 3 scrunchies (2 velvet ones in dark green and dark red, and a blue one w/ daisies on it) so that I could get free shipping lol. Plus the scrunchies were about $4 each which is such a good deal on them!! Tbh though I don't use scrunchies the way they should be used which is as a substitute for hair ties. My hair is so long and heavy and I just cannot get scrunchies to work (it's either too big/too small.... like I need to get it around my ponytail one more time or else it's too loose but it won't go!!! ya feel??) so I tie up my hair first and then put the scrunchie over to look cute. ANYWAY I'm looking forward to getting my package which is at least something I can look forward to during this stressful time of exams!!

Also another thing to look forward to is the Yung Lean concert on Dec 19 :))) I don't care if u don't fuks w him bYE

But like for real bye because my tea is done steeping and also I gotta get back to ochem (which I think I may actually fail.....)
