album: bloom

Beach House's Bloom!! This is by far one of my favourite albums ever. It's one of those albums where I can just sit there and listen to all the tracks. It gives you such good and sad and nostalgic feelings. So beautiful.

shopping + dine out vancouver

On Friday I went to Metrotown with my friend Kimberly and then I ate at the Boathouse at English Bay with my friends Karman and Madalene for our first Dine Out!

So first I went to Metrotown because of the American Apparel Student Mixer where you get 20% off everything in the store. I was planning on getting the tennis skirt in white but in person it looks so cheap?? And also it didn't look very nice on me lol it made me look like some sort of anime girl idk. So I ended up getting a medium wash denim scrunchie and that was about it. I also picked up a free watch from AA (forgot to take a pic tho) but it wasn't super cute or anything.

I also bought another tube of the Benefit Porefessional. This is already my third tube but seriously this stuff is so great. It makes my foundation apply so much more smoothly!! And after that we went to Zara because I was looking for a new coat and I found this baby!!

I'm not sure how much it costed originally because another sticker covered it, but I'm guessing it was $120?? Regardless, I got it for $80 so I'm pretty happy. Although it's a size small it's still a little bit big on me, but at the same time I really like the more looser look with this coat. It makes me feel like Lindsay Weir from Freaks and Geeks yenno??? Except it's navy not green I guess.

Then afterwards I met up with Madalene and Karman and we bussed downtown. We're honestly so so sad and directionally challenged (especially me bc I was looking at a map hahaha). We got off the bus by English Bay and we literally walked the complete opposite direction of the Boathouse.... ya really. And we walked about 3 blocks wondering where the fuck the restaurant was until we realized that we walked the wrong way, so we bussed back up and we got to the restaurant. When we got there though, we had a reservation for 8pm but we didn't get a table until 9 because apparently people were lingering a bit longer than they expected. The wait honestly wasn't that bad though, because we had tons to talk about since we all go to different schools now so we barely ever see each other (though we have this cute fb group chat where we're those girls who screenshot things and show each other and laugh).

For my appetizer I got the West Coast Seafood Chowder, for my entree I got the Coconut Pacific Cod, and finally for dessert I got the Seasonal Creme Brulee. Overall the food was pretty good, but really filling! I didn't get a pic of the seafood chowder, but here's the other dishes:

I'm horrible at taking food pics. It's so much harder than it looks!! Like it's so hard to capture the food and actually make it look appetizing. Yea anyway we basically sat there for the longest time just laughing and chatting and catching up. And also, we were like "Wow look we're actually doing something on a Friday night!!!!!"

And yesterday I went for my second Dine Out with my friend Chrystal who I met at UBC!! We went to Hapa Izakaya on Robson and the food was so so so good but at the end we were just so full. I didn't take any pics of the food but Chrystal did so here's a pic I stole from her ig

Since it's an izakaya we shared most of the food. We got Fresh Oysters, Negitoro (that's the garlic bread and chopped tuna up there in the pic!! it was soooo good, probably my fave), Pork Belly Lettuce Wrap (in the upper left of the pic), Ebi Mayo (tempura prawns, but not like the ones you get from sushi restaurants; they're like actual prawns and covered with a delicious mayo sauce), Oyster Motoyaki (baked oysters with potato, sauce, etc), and Oyster Risotto. The last dish, the risotto, was rice, oysters, mozzarella, onion, carrot, mushroom, green beans, cream miso broth and served in a hot stone bowl. It was so yummy but by then we were getting surprisingly full. And we burned our tongues on the risotto because when we got it, it was super super hot and steaming and bubbling for the longest time, and after waiting a few minutes we just couldn't wait to try it so we did and despite blowing on it forever, it was so really hot! I think I'm going to eat at Hapa Izakaya more often.

We also took a polaroid at the restaurant!

Afterwards we went down to Metrotown and we walked around for a bit. Here's a mirror pic we took in Zara!

my outfit: topshop tank top (under) and shiny leggings, h&m sweater, zara coat, alexander wang rockie bag, dolce vita boots

We dropped by at Aritzia and I saw the cutest soft furry sherpa coat ever!! I believe it's from Wilfred, and it's originally $225 on sale for $75!! Unfortunately it didn't come in my size anymore (the smallest one was a medium and I tried that on and it was far too big on me sigh). Afterwards we grabbed Qoola because we decided that we had walked off our meal hahaha.

And yea, so those were two pretty good days, but now I have to study for an online chem quiz that's supposed to be done over this weekend and I have absolutely no clue what's going on right now. Great. Okay bye!!

dream: sleep paralysis/lucid dreaming + dream within a dream???

Yesterday I had such a weird and creepy dream(s) and I'm not quite sure what to make of it. I should have written this this morning so that I had the dream fresher in my mind but I've been thinking about it throughout the day so I still remember it, but the details are a bit fuzzy. I'm honestly not quite sure what happened but I think I had a dream within a dream and I may have had a lucid dream??? I didn't realize it until I woke up though.

So I fell asleep listening to 'Bel Air' by Lana Del Rey on repeat. I'm not quite sure how I fell asleep. I was incredibly tired. I remember having sleep paralysis, but I'm not sure if this occurred WITHIN my first dream or in reality. If I did have sleep paralysis in reality, that could be linked to the lucid dreaming (or at least I think it was lucid dreaming) that I experienced. Maybe I had gotten sleep paralysis but I was just far too tired?? I mean I do regularly experience sleep paralysis (but not so often that it is a problem). The creepy thing is that I usually get sleep paralysis during nights where I get these weird vibes of something being in the room. Maybe I'm just freaking myself out, but I've noticed that whenever I feel a presence in the room when I'm trying to sleep, I get sleep paralysis. For instance, sometimes I'll literally see something, almost like a dull flash, fly by in the darkness but I try to dismiss it. Then soon after I experience sleep paralysis, and no matter how many times I've experienced it, I panic each time.

This time seemed different though. Maybe I was too tired to even care? But I'm sure I would have still panicked. But regardless, I began dreaming. I had many short dreams. I can't quite remember them but I know one of them had to do with high school, and I was with some high school classmates on public transit, though I'm not sure and I don't remember where we were headed. The scary part was that in between each short dream, I would experience sleep paralysis, and the sleep paralysis felt much longer than it normally would. The sleep paralysis I experienced in between each dream was also in a dream, and therefore I guess the short dreams were dreams within a dream. DREAMSEPTION??? Hahaha back on a more serious note, during each bout of sleep paralysis, I would panic and try so hard to move but I could not. And then, each time the sleep paralysis ended, I would be transported into another dream. At one point though I remember breaking from the sleep paralysis and running to my living room because my dad was there (as he was in reality). Basically, the scene and everything in the dream where I was experiencing the continuous sleep paralysis seemed just like reality, but it was actually a dream. Anyway, when I ran to the living room in my dream, I don't know why but I was too scared to them what was happening, so I just had some small talk with my dad and brother who was also in the room. Soon after I retreated back to my bed assuming all was well, but when I did, I fell back into the cycle of endless sleep paralysis and short dreams. I don't quite remember the details of the short dreams I had towards the end, but I remember that I kept having dark and eerie thoughts and then the dreams started being nightmares and they resembled the things I would think of (I tend to come up with fucked up scenarios in my head which was obviously not helpful in this situation lol). I remember one of the short dreams toward the end. I was standing in my basement and it was quite cold and dark and I was standing by the basement door that leads outside. I had thoughts about a crazed murderer breaking in, and before I knew it, there was banging on the door and someone was trying to break in and I ran.

I finally broke free from my dream(s) during one of the sleep paralysis "intermissions". I was frozen and I couldn't move and suddenly I woke up from it all. Right when I woke up, I jumped right out of bed in fear that the cycle of sleep paralysis would continue and my earphones came out of my ears and I was shaking and trembling. I looked at the time and it was about 2:15am if I remember correctly. That means throughout the entire ordeal, only about half an hour had passed, though in my dream it felt like an eternity.

So yeah, that's what happened in my dream last night. I'm not sure if towards the end I was lucid dreaming or not because I've never had a lucid dream before (at least I don't think I have), and it seemed like anything I thought of would come true. I should have thought of cute guys!!! Lol ok bye (◡‿◡✿)

i'm moving in slow motion, slow motion

h&m muscle tee and cardigan, tna leggings and jacket (that i'm holding), american apparel backpack, black hi top converse

So this was me today??? Yesterday I mean???? I always blog at night like past midnight idk I'm just like that so every time I just don't know which day to call it ugh but aNYWAY

Since I'm like the ~selfie princess~, I had a bit of a selfie session and um yaaa (I used snapchat to take these so please don't mind the shitty snapchat quality)

Yesterday (ya I'll just call it yesterday) I grabbed lunch with my friend Chrystal who I met during Imagine Day on the first day at UBC and it was really cool to catch up with her. We didn't have any classes together during term 1 and we don't have any together during term 2, and our schedules are so different so we barely ever see each other which sucks. We chatted a lot and even though we only got to hang out for like 45 min (it was during her lunch break, but I was done school by then) it was still nice seeing her again.

I really should be sleeping considering I have to wake up at like 5ish am and it's already 1am. 8am classes suck. Plus I have my first chem lab for term 2 aka the most stressful 3 hours ever!! And there's like 5 labs throughout the term so even more stress!!! Ugh. But at least this term I'm actually preparing for labs ahead of time. Ideally, you should use the dry lab week to prep and plan and the wet lab week to further prepare but last term I'd literally start reading it the night before or on the bus on the way to school which was so so so bad. But hey I'm changing my ways!!

Ya and speaking of changing my ways, I'm supposed to change my sleeping habits lol oops because last term my sleeping schedule was real messed up ok bye goodnight sweet dreams yall (◡‿◡✿) ☆ミ ✧ * 。 ⋆

P.S. I CANT STOP LISTENING TO THIS SONG hahahha I find that I really like hip hop/rap songs with this kinda beat ya know???

untitled #13

In other news, I just finished watching Freaks and Geeks and I think I'm going to cry.

money trees

Yesterday I went shopping at Metrotown after class with my friend Madalene. It's so nice that I'm done school everyday around noon (sometimes even at 9:30) because it feels like I have so much time left in the day, and I feel so much more energized instead of all sleepy and tired in the afternoon. I think I'm gonna try to make my school schedules like this in the future.

Madalene and I really wanted to find cute fleecy onesies. We only found ugly ones at Urban Behaviour which is pretty disappointing. I really want a onesie with a butt flap!! Hahaha I did actually find one from UB with a butt flap but it was bright blue with the words 'GEEK' on it (reminds me of Freaks and Geeks lol) so it wasn't the most attractive onesie but it was fleecy and Madalene and I were going to try to them on but we lost track of time and by the time we decided to head to the change rooms, the sales associate told us that we couldn't because it was 9pm and the store was closing. But I did buy a pair of really soft white fleecy slippers for only $3 (but they're starting to shed a bit.....).

Anyway here was me yesterday:

topshop sweater and pleather leggings, tna jacket, alexander wang rockie bag, white converse (the photo on the right i was trying on a pair of shoes from spring shoes lol)

We also had a poutine from New York Fries yesterday, which I haven't had in forever!! It brought back memories (idk if those memories are good or bad tho lol) of spring break 2013 where Karman and I spent a lot of our spring break eating poutines (WE WERE THE POUTINE QUEENS) and we considered vlogging our poutine adventures (which thankfully we didn't do because that would be awfully embarrassing and cringey to watch after hahaha) and we ate like all the different New York Fries poutines and we went to this poutine place downtown called Smoke's Poutinerie and omg. And meanwhile, a bunch of people from school were off at S-Trip in the Dominican Republic laying around at the beach and partying (maybe we were eating our feelings away because we regretted not going!!!!! sigh).

However my main purpose of this shopping trip was to buy the Dr. Marten 2976 boots!!! Here's some pics from the Dr. Marten site of these beauties:

Aren't they so gorgeous???? They're $160 but I think they'd be a good investment considering the fact that they're so durable and (since I've been wearing a pair of Dr. Marten 1460 boots since grade 10 so I guess like 3 years) I know that they'll last a while without breaking. Plus they're waterproof which is great for Vancouver weather. I was hoping that somewhere in Metrotown would sell them since I received two $50 Metrotown giftcards for Christmas but unfortunately I couldn't find them anywhere. I'm going to try trading the giftcards for cash with my parents so that I can buy them elsewhere. I'm planning to go to Gravity Pope and buy them instead now. I'm so disappointed though because I was so hoping to buy them and start wearing them!! But I'll have to break them in which is the biggest pain ever (like literally).

Oh and I found these socks from Ardene that I really want hahaha it's not that weird right???

I've never owned toe socks before so like I really want these!!!! And look at that design like mY GOD I'm gonna look so spunky wearing these around the house!!!

And then after Madalene and I left UB, we went to Qoola which was still open and yay. Mine is the beautiful rainbow one on the left. (◕‿◕✿)

And ya that's about it!!

bored bby

I swear my blogspot has just turned into this thing where I post an irrelevant photobooth pic and then talk about dumb stuff but whatever. Oh and the background clouds pic I used was taken by bullimar!!

I'm actually feeling more confident about school now which is good. I'm actually putting effort into my assignments and homework now but I still need to work on my time management skills, but I'm planning to go to a peer academic coaching thing tomorrow (actually today????? since it's 12:30am lol). I'm still a bit hesitant about going because I'm not very good at seeking help and also I don't like talking about how I'm doing in school because the last time I talked to someone about how school was I just couldn't hold back my tears and I started crying so uhh yeah I don't really want to relive that. But it's time for a fresh start!!! As cheesy and dumb as this sounds: new year, new me hahaha

I'm also really glad that I'm only taking four courses this term because I feel like it's so much more manageable. And not only that, but this term I only have 5 midterms!!!! I'm so so happy. Last term, I had 8: 2 physics, 2 calculus, 2 chem, and 2 bio midterms. This term I have 2 math, 2 physics, and 1 chem midterm. I can literally feel some stress melting away but at the same time I still need to study harder than I did last term. I think I'm gonna start going to the library more during weekends, not only during exam periods but just in general.

I'm in a really positive mood right now though because I'm looking forward to a few things!! I ordered a gold chain necklace on Etsy yesterday (I've wanted one for like ever but I was always too lazy to buy one but lately I've been buying things online so yeah) and according to the shipping info they ship from Canada (I believe Toronto??) so I'm hoping it'll be fast. I think they said it should take 3-13 business days?? But yeah I'm really looking forward to getting this in the mail!!

I'm also anticipating Wes Anderson's film Grand Budapest Hotel!! I swear I mentioned this before on my blog but I don't think I did?? But anyway here's the trailer:

I really loved Moonrise Kingdom and so I can't wait to watch this. I really love the look and the whole feel of Wes Anderson's films, you know what I mean??? Haha I'm really bad at describing and talking about films but yeah. My friend and I are already making plans to see it on the day it's released which is March 7 so I'm really excited to see it.

Oh and I don't think I've ever mentioned this yet but over the winter break I started watching Freaks and Geeks and I really like it!! My sister watched it and I would sit and watch parts of each episode but I never really watched the whole thing, but now I'm in the middle of watching the entire thing myself. It's kind of difficult because I've seen different parts of the entire season and so when I'm watching it, I think to myself stuff like, did __ already happen yet?? Or wait no I think it's gonna happen later. But omg let me just say something about Daniel Desario aka James Franco……… DAMNNNNNNN *DROOLS* hahahaha but seriously I can't get over him he's so gorgeous. And thanks to Freaks and Geeks I was introduced to the song 'I'm Eighteen' by Alice Cooper which is now one of my favourite songs and here's one of my favourite scenes from the show (and this is where I first heard this song!!):

Anyway I think I should go to sleep soon because it's almost 1am and I have to wake up in 5 hours for school. It's great that I get off early everyday but that means waking up and going to early classes. Goodnight bbs!!! (◡‿◡✿)

me, purchases, school talk, more school talk

On thursday I went downtown and I bought a few things from London Drugs. I had to repurchase my Olay moisturizer for sensitive skin because I ran out (tbh though idk if this stuff is even that good, I feel like I need something a bit more moisturizing but this stuff is alright for the most part) and I also bought shaving cream and I also got the L'Oreal EverStrong conditioner and I'm just gonna try it out and see how it goes because I've read some good reviews on it plus it's sulfate free. If I like it I might buy the shampoo too and yeah. Ok I told myself that I wasn't good buy any more clothing because I'm like broke now from winter break shopping and from buying textbooks and school things but I went into Aritzia and they had some things on sale and I saw a Wilfred black long sleeved crop top and it was on sale for $25!! I think it's originally $40+?? I didn't bother checking the original price but I tried it on a medium and I liked how it looked because it wasn't super fitted like the size small that I also tried on but instead it had a more looser fit but not too loose?? Idk it was just really cute and this sales associate really liked it on me (idk she probably just wanted a sale but WHATEVER) and yeah so I bought it and it's the shirt I'm wearing in that pic above!!

So I just finished my first week of term 2 and wow I feel like I'm already behind on my studies. I was actually a bit eager to get back to this because I had this whole new attitude and changed perspective but now I'm kind of like ugh again about school. I'm taking four courses instead of five like last term so I hope things won't be as bad this term. I feel like I just don't have the motivation to do things. I've barely done any pre-reading even though I promised myself I would but I plan to do a bit this weekend. On monday I'm planning to go see a peer academic coach and I'm not completely sure what I want to get out of that but I'm hoping that s/he can somehow get me on track. I mean since it's the beginning of the term I think I'm getting off to a good start (or at least a better start than last term) by asking for help. Hopefully I can also learn how to manage my time better too haha. Since all my classes are in the morning and I get off at around noon everyday (and every other tuesday I get off at 9:30 bc of my chem lab dry week hehehe) I feel like I still have energy and time to do things the rest of the day so yeah. In fact I'm supposed to be doing math right now but math is really confusing me right now, but I'm slowly but surely working my way through it. In fact I have my web assignment for math due on wednesday and I think it's pretty good that I'm starting it now because last term I used to leave it until monday or even tuesday night and I would stay up all night trying to finish it as it was due in the morning. I really hope I will be able to push myself to work really hard this term and improve my grades so that I can be proud of my accomplishments and my parents can be proud of my accomplishments too.

That's about it now. It's 3:30am and I think I should go to bed because another thing I was hoping to change was my sleeping habits, but I took a nap today and woke up at 9pm so I'm pretty energized still, but I think it'd be better if I try to sleep now so I can get up in the morning still instead of sleeping into the afternoon and feeling like I wasted my da

k

I take too many of these. But I can't help it, skies are just so beautiful. I think I'm going to print all of these in a photo lab and put them all into an album idk I think that'd be pretty cool.

*~winter break haul~*

Ok some of the items in the photos above are repeated but it's because I took the bottom photo first and then the top one and some of the items in the bottom pic are not in the first one and ugh ok so anyway!!!

So I'm just gonna go clockwise starting from the top left fuzzy thing in the first photo and then move on the second photo and skip any repeated items.

1. Fuzzy cardigan/jacket from H&M, $80. I didn't take a photo of it just on its own but I should've because you can't even tell what that thing is in that photo but basically it's just like a fuzzy jacket cardigan thing....... idk man idk I wanted a Wilfred jacket that's like off-white and it's less fuzzy and more like sherpa but it's like over $200 and I'm broke!!
2. Cream-ish tank top from Topshop, $20. Just a plain tank top. Kind of like a muscle tee but not really.
3. Jungle print cropped tank from American Apparel, $22. I bought this baby on boxing day!! Everything in AA was 20% off so I bought this crop top that I've been eyeing for a while but never really got around to buying. It's originally $28 and yeah.
4. Knit tank top from Urban Outfitters, $40. I saw this while boxing day shopping and I fell in love!!! But it wasn't on sale or anything and the lines were so damn long and they didn't have my size so I decided to come back for it another day. I returned a few days later and it was still there and restocked and I was so happy and I tried it on and I fell in love again and bought it!!!!
5. Cream cropped sweater from Topshop, $30. I bought this on boxing day. It was originally $60 so yay!! Topshop's boxing day sale was so so so good. It was so big and overwhelming and I LOVED IT. Nearly everything was like 50% off the original price and the selection was huge!!
6. Black cropped sweater from Topshop, $30. I also bought this on boxing day! It was originally $66.
7. Black pleather leggings from Topshop, $32. I bought these before Christmastime. I've wanted pleather leggings or pants or a skirt or anything for a while now and I'm so happy that I came across these. They're not too shiny which I love and it was only $32!
8. Gray acid wash cropped tank from Brandy Melville, $25. I really love this kind of shirt. I'm thinking of buying the t-shirt or tank top form of it too, ever since my TNA one ripped (I still wear it tho w/e).
9. Black denim circle skirt from Topshop, $25. Another boxing day purchase! Originally $50. I usually wear a US size 4 at Topshop but the smallest size I could find was a US 6, but when I tried it on it wasn't so bad. It kind of just sat at my waist, but I don't mind because it won't fall or anything lol. I can't wait to wear this with the AA cropped tank and the UO knit tank in the summer!!
10. Palty hair dye in Caramel, $13 each. I bought these ages ago but I haven't gotten around to redyeing my roots. I really should because my roots are atrocious.
11. Striped tank top from Brandy Melville, $15. Just a simple striped tank.
12. Benefit Coralista blush, $35. My new fave blush!! I normally stay far far faaarrrr away from shimmery blushes because I'm oily enough and I like to stay matte, but this blush is so lovely. It kind of highlights for you honestly. The colour doesn't show as much as I would like it to on my skin tone, but I still really like this blush. Plus I think the packaging is really cute (like basically all Benefit products hehe)
13. Moleskine weekly planner. It's the one with the 7 days of the week on the left side, and ruled paper on the right side. This is my third year buying this same planner! I tend to be like that - I DONT LIKE CHANGE hahaha

Oh and just a few other things I forgot to put in the photos above:

White silicone iPhone 4/4S case with angel wings from H&M, $3. I think this was originally around $7 or $8 but I got it on boxing day for $3. It's so cute and I love how simple and clean it is!! The only issue is that it's silicone so it gets dirty really easily and on top of that it's white so I have to try really hard to keep it clean. I can already tell it's getting a bit dirty now sadly so I think I'm gonna give it a soap bath over the weekend.

Pink bathrobe from Forever21, $23. So I bought this on boxing day and it was probably by far my favourite item I bought on boxing day and this entire winter break and it wasn't even on sale hahaha. But I literally fell in love with it the second I touched it. It's the softest thing ever!! There was only one left and it was a size large but w/e I don't really care. It has a hood too!!! It wasn't included in the photos above bc it was in the wash I believe.

And last but not least, this Alexander Wang Rockie bag!!!!!! It's not technically mine - it's my sister's, but she lets me use it so yay. She bought it used on eBay for around $400 and it's so gorgeous and I love it. I originally wanted the Rocco bag because I prefer more spacious bags but this is really cute.

And other than that, I bought a bunch of hand soaps from Bath & Body Works since they were buy 1 get 1 free on boxing day which I think is cheaper than the $3 each hand soap deal during their semi-annual sale. I also bought a bunch of La Senza undies but I didn't take pics of them because they're not very interesting. The selection wasn't that great (I felt like I was picking the best out of the worst) but yeah, I did find some cute ones though. And I'm trying to think of more items I bought but nothing is coming to mind, so yeah, that's about it! Bye for now!
