bring them things

Wow I haven't posted in forever. Okay well I'm just gonna go through what I've been up to since the last time I posted (aug 17) so yeah.

So on monday august 19 I went shopping with my friend Kimberly. I bought a sweater from H&M and I have been too lazy to take a pic of it until now and yeah.

Then we went to T&T and bought a bunch of asian food (I also bought hair dye bc my cousin's wedding is coming up) and we sat at the tables there and a bunch of dimsum and matcha Pocky and matcha cookies and mango tapioca dessert like pigs. I felt kind of gross after but yeah.

Then on tuesday I finally went to my doctor about my cough. I was coughing for over 3 weeks now and it's getting so annoying. It started out like a dry cough and now it's just mucus-y and gross and it sounds gross and I feel like it grosses customers out when I cough while handling their shit at the checkstand hahaha but whatever. Basically she told me that it's normal for a cough to persist for about 4 weeks after a cold (I didn't even realize I had a cold??? lol) and she told me to take NyQuil and go to sleep by 11 pm every night (lol lbr who sleeps that early). And basically if I keep coughing for another week then I should go back to the doctor because then I would be coughing for 4 weeks now which I would assume is not good hahaha. One of my coworkers/the guy who trained me told me that I probably have bronchitis hahaha the funny thing is that I laughed and told him I didn't and then this week I went back to the doctor bc I was still coughing and apparently I HAVE BRONCHITIS lol I'll continue on about this later on in this post hahaha

Then on wednesday I had work again and nothing special. Just an evening shift and whatever. I actually like evening shifts though, bc the store is just so quiet and peaceful and people usually just buy very few items and mostly scannable items bc no one really buys produce at night so it's easy and you just chill and talk to the cashiers around you for a few hours.

Thursday I went to shopping at Metrotown by myself like a loner and I didn't buy anything but this is what I wore

h&m shirt, vintage necklace, american apparel shorts, vans shoes, american apparel backpack

Then on friday I had work an 8.5 hour shift and it was probably the worst day I've ever had at work omg. It was the grand reopening at safeway and basically there was this huge asian event going on there with all these deals on asian products and of course being the cheap asians that asians are, they all flocked in and literally the entire store was a sea of old chinese people who were diving at the discounted bags of rice, instant noodles, mangoes, asian bakery buns that were buy 3 get 3 free, and other shit that was on sale. It was just so busy and this one guy said that in the 40 years that he has been shopping at safeway, he has never seen it so busy. They had to literally call in people from other stores because I guess we didn't have enough employees and all of those district people who are high up there (as in like the bosses of my bosses or whatever) had to help out with bagging groceries. Like imagine middle aged men in suits bagging groceries. But the worst part was the customers. Like ugh some customers are just so rude and impatient and annoying and not only that but on that day a lot of them spoke little english so it was just really one big mess. At one point this asian guy who spoke english badly bought a chicken and claimed that I didn't give him change when he was holding the change in his hand and idk I think there was just a big misunderstanding on his part. He was making a huge scene yelling "YOU NO GIVE ME CHANGE!!!" and I'm like "I gave you your change, you're holding it..." and he's all like "NO U NO GIVE ME CHANGE" and then at one point he's like "I DONT WANT THIS CHICKEN NO MORE" and I'm like "sir I can't do refunds please go to customer service" and he's like "NO I WANT MONEY BACK I DONT WANT CHICKEN GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY" and I'm like "I'm sorry but I can't do refunds, you're gonna have to go to customer service" and he's like "NO I WANT TO RETURN CHICKEN" and I'm like "FOR THE LAST TIME I CAN'T REFUND UR CHICKEN" ugh omg I wanted to literally smack him with the fucking chicken omfg and also at one point this old white lady got really fed up with me bc I was trying to do her delivery order and she left a few items in her cart and I forgot to ring them through and she's all like "listen here young lady" like um what. But yeah the only upside to this day was that time literally flew bc it was just so busy. Other than that, it was just horrible.

Then on saturday I worked another 8.5 hour shift because it was still the reopening sale thing or whatever. I was originally supposed to work a 5 hour hour shift but my manager overheard me saying to my friend that I was only working 5 hours and asked me to work 8 hours ugh I should just shut up sometimes. So I worked from 2:30-11pm.

Sunday I had work again but my family went down to the States to go shopping in Seattle and I couldn't change my shift or switch to another day so they went without me. Sigh. I asked them to buy me white low top converse and black high top converse though. I don't have a pic of the black ones bc I already wore them out but here's a pic of my white ones

As you can see, it has a black trim rather than the red and blue trim. Initially when I saw these, I was mad bc I specifically asked for the original red and blue trim ones and these were NOT the ones. But then I tried them on and stared at them for a bit and then realized that I started to like these ones more. I mean it has a BLACK trim and black is like literally my favourite colour!! I like how it's kind of unique, you know? Like most people don't have this one. So yeah, I think I actually like them better than the original ones I asked for now. ^_^

Then on tuesday it was the first day of the Aritzia warehouse sale!!! It runs from aug 27-sept 2 and it's at the Vancouver Convention Centre. It opens from 8am-8pm everyday except the last 2 days are 10am-6pm. I lined up at 6:30am and I was lucky that I was in line inside the building. I was only a few metres from the door but regardless outside was cold so yeah. The line-up quickly turned huge and by the time the doors were about to open, I looked outside and the line stretched all the way to the other side of the water. I found this pic lol

photo from @SarahSweeety

So basically this is the other side of the water so the line went all the way around and yeah. I was so glad that I went early bc that must suck waiting in line outside for hours like that. I was actually within the first group of people to get in so when I got in, everything was all organized and on racks and nice. I quickly went to the cheaper section (lol I'm poor ok) and yeah. Here's a pic I got of the inside:

This photo makes the place look so much more empty and small than it really was. It was pretty big actually. But tbh I didn't really think the items were that good. Maybe they were trying to get rid of the shitty old clothes on the first day before putting out newer ones? Idk. But I was kind of disappointed by the sale. I spent only $80 which is waaaay less than most people so yeah.

So I only bought 4 items so here they are:

Talula jeans, $29.99 (original price unknown)

Cheap Monday tank top, $9.99 (original price: $30.00)

Community knit tank top, $19.99 (original price: $55.00)

TNA shorts, $14.99 (original price: $40.00)

So the Talula jeans I bought were a sample pair so I don't know what the original price is. But $30 for a pair of jeans is pretty good! Plus I was looking for a cute pair of black jeans for a while now. The shorts I bought are just to lounge around in at home haha.

I'm planning to go to the sale again on sunday to see some new stuff since they put new stuff on the floor everyday and like every hour or whatever.

Later on that day I went to my family doctor again bc my cough still had not gone away and she told me I have bronchitis which is what my coworker told me I had a couple weeks ago but I laughed and dismissed it. So anyway she put me on antibiotics and let me tell you, these antibiotics are HELL. I have to take it twice a day (after breakfast and after dinner) and I get nauseous for an hour or two after taking it. I think the nausea is worse in the morning. But I literally get that carsick feeling and I feel like throwing up. Not only that but I've found that I get tired really quickly. Like, by late afternoon, I'm exhausted, even with a full night's sleep. I feel like my cough improved because currently it is not as mucus-y however it has not gone away yet. In fact I coughed so much that the ribs at my chest hurt. I only have antibiotics for one more day (tomorrow) so I'm not quite sure what to do after that.

Then in the evening I had to work from 8pm-12:15am which was my first time ever closing and tbh I don't really mind it. It's really quiet and chill and there's barely any customers and you basically just talk to other cashiers and the others are usually young too so yeah. But I was tired as fuck considering I woke up at 4am that day.

Then on wednesday morning I went to UBC and paid my tuition for this semester and bought a lab book. I am so fucked bc I have like NOTHING and I don't even know what to do and school is in literally 3 days (or actually 2 since it's like 2am right now). I am so unprepared and I regret not looking for textbooks and whatnot earlier. Fuck my life. Then I had work as usual afterwards. It's so sad how when you work, you schedule everything around work. Like, your life literally revolves around it.

Then on thursday I had work yet again but this time in the morning at 9:30am. I booked a physio appointment bc I didn't go for like over 2 weeks and I've been bad bc I had neglected doing my at-home exercises for a few days, but it was bc I've just been way too exhausted to do them and the rib soreness didn't exactly help. But I really should do it everyday as each session costs $60.

And then on friday (I suppose I could say yesterday but it's not actually yesterday) I had work at 8:30am and it was so early for me omg but yeah. I was supposed to work until 12:30pm but my shift got extended to 3pm. Honestly they really need to hire more cashiers bc we don't have enough and I keep getting called in to work on my days off.

And then I went to Metrotown and I finally bought the Naked Basics Palette!! I'm basically a noob with eyeshadow (sorry, I couldn't think of a better word) and since I don't use eyeshadow very much but would like to on certain occasions, I bought this simpler Naked Palette. I still want the original Naked Palette though but we'll see.

And I also had a dentist appointment yesterday and I got 2 cavities removed (I'm bad I know) but surprisingly and even without anesthetics it did not hurt at all. So it was all good.

Today I went to my cousin Tracy's wedding. I'm so tired now and I'll post pics and talk about it tomorrow. Bye for now!!

i'm not living, i'm just killing time

I painted my nails a black french tip mani last week but I didn't post it until now. Wow ignore my hideous cuticles, I didn't really do anything to them bc they didn't look that bad in person but in these pictures they look revolting. But yeah. And the photo on the right does not include my thumb bc I broke that nail and I didn't bother to paint it bc it just looked too weird and yeah.

So on monday I worked at the checkstand for the first time! It wasn't as bad as I expected. I did ask for a lot of help from the nearby cashiers though (I hope I didn't annoy them too much hahaha). I got a sign in front of my line-up that said "cashier in training" kind of like a warning sign I suppose but at least that means the customer can't really be too angry with me since I'm just starting out anyway. But yeah, I worked pretty slowly and I took a long time to find PLU numbers on my paper but it wasn't too bad. Time actually passes by really quickly too! Probably because I'm so busy freaking out and trying not to fuck up. And I just received my first paycheck and I'm so happy because I'm actually making earning my own money.

And also, uni starts in nearly 2 weeks!! Ahhhhhhhhh I'm not fucking ready. Yesterday, me and a few friends went to UBC to check out the campus and everything and it made me realize that like wow, I'm going to be attending university soon. Like, I don't think the fact that I'm no longer a high school student and the fact that I graduated really sunk in yet. I'm still a kid!! Hahaha. I really not really to leave high school yet, but I really should embrace change. BUT I DON'T LIKE CHANGE. Ugh. Wow okay. I should really figure everything out and start buying books and get my shit together because, well, I'm done with high school whether I like it or not. I have two weeks. Two fucking weeks to get my shit together. Great.

2013-08-12

girls just wanna have funds

It has just occurred to me that school starts in literally 3 weeks and I am not okay with this. The thought of not going back to high school and seeing the same people again is so weird. I'm not prepared for university. Like, I'm not mentally prepared nor am I physically prepared because I HAVEN'T GOTTEN ANY OF MY BOOKS OR MY UBC CARD OR EVEN VISITED THE CAMPUS YET wow I'm really fucking myself over. At least I'm slowly getting there. I recently finally fixed up my timetable bc I was missing my Math 184 workshop bc they were all full but then they opened a new one and I registered and tbh right now there's only like 5 people registered for it which will be so so so awkward. I really need to get my shit together but I'm really not in the mood to and I don't think I will be any time soon.

I have work later today from 6-10pm and I am not looking forward to it. I mean like most people don't look forward to work bc it's work but for me I'm literally DREADING it because I have to work at the checkstand with ACTUAL customers for the first time ever and I just learned how to use the till and everything like a few days ago and I CAN'T REMEMBER THESE CODES AND EVERYTHING ugh I really need to breathe but tbh I'm gonna look fucking retarded. My manager said that everyone's nervous at first but I'm like way past nervous, I'm like gonna have a panic attack. I hate working with people. I hate people. What am I doing. On the plus side, my friend who works at Safeway as a cashier too said that I'm lucky that I'm starting on a Monday night because it should be pretty slow (apparently she started on a Saturday and it was horrible hahaha). I don't know how I'm gonna ring things through and serve customers while looking friendly still. Having a bitchy neutral face doesn't always help.

2013-08-09

i'm heaven sent, hell bound

On tuesday I began my training for cashier at Safeway! It was unbelievably boring. I was there for literally 6 hours watching videos and doing quizzes and yeah. I think I could have finished it 2 hours quicker but the computer was fucked up and the videos would stop loading and my manager had to reset the computer a couple times and it was just lame. Oh and I got my uniform!! It's super cute (brb crying)

The shirt is in size XS and it's still too big for me and I am not okay with the colour and it's like... crispy. Like you know the feeling of a shirt when you hang it out to dry in the sun and it's all crispy and crunchy and bad feeling??? Well that's how my shirt feels. I think the apron actually helps make the shirt less ugly. And I have a name tag yay. But whatever, as long as I'm getting paid, I'll wear this.........

On wednesday I went to Metrotown to buy some black shoes for work. My manager said that canvas shoes and sneakers are fine as long as they're all black with no visible logos so I decided to use this as an excuse to beg my mom for money to pay for a new pair of plain black Vans and yay it worked so now I have a cute new pair with no hole in it anymore and they aren't stinky like my old pair (note to self: ALWAYS WEAR SOCKS WITH VANS). I mean like I also have another pair of black Vans (the suede ones) but there's this weird crease in it where suede literally came off or something so it looks pretty funky in a bad way. Oh hey you can actually see it in my outfit post below

american apparel crop top and shorts, mossimo denim vest, vans shoes, danier leather bag

DO YOU SEE HOW THE BOW CAME OFF OF MY IPHONE CASE??? Omg I really need to glue it back on because it's just so ugly and sad without the bow :(((

But ANYWAY at first I went to Zumiez to find black Vans but they didn't have my size (women's size 7) and they only had 7.5 but the worker who was helping me was pretty cute and really tall and tbh I actually recognized him bc he went to my high school but I highly doubt he knew me lol but MOVING ON I decided to check out other stores and if I couldn't find any then I would just buy the ones in size 7.5. So I went everywhere and I couldn't find a pair of SIMPLE BLACK AUTHENTIC LO PRO VANS LIKE COME ON PEOPLE but finally I went to Little Burgundy and yay they had it and in my size too! So at this point and I didn't even bother to try them on bc I was tired and just wanted to buy them and go and yeah.

The guy there recommended this stuff to clean your shoes with and it was only like $8 so I was like whatever and I bought that too. I also got a free reusable water bottle and yeah. I still need to buy white low top and all black high top Converse sneakers!! But now that I have a job I'm going to buy it myself when I start making money so yay. I'm actually kind of happy that I can actually buy things with my own money rather than my parents' money now bc I'm starting to feel bad for always asking them for money.

OH YEAh look there's my vest that I bought in Vernon from Target!! Here's some better pics of it

I would prefer if it was a lighter wash but I'm still fine with this. I've been trying to find a denim vest for so long but every time I go shopping all the ones I see are weird and studded or bedazzled or too long or too... clean looking??? Like, I wanted one that has some tears and holes and frays and whatever but not to the point that it's falling apart.

Okay and yesterday I had my second day of training!! Here's me on the bus lol

I mostly watched videos again but this time I went down to do some bagging at the checkout stands and I was so nervous but since it was the evening it wasn't too busy and it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. My next day of training is Sunday and then my last day of training is Monday and I have to take a produce test (I think it's basically matching names to pictures of different produce) and apparently it's not very hard and I get a cheat sheet so yeah. And then I'm officially a cashier!! I think. Hahaha I'm so nervous about being a cashier though. In fact, I'm always so nervous about everything.

Oh and listen to araabMUZIK's remix of Pour It Up by Rihanna!!

And yeahhhhhh that's it, see ya

penticton

Me before leaving the hotel in Vernon ahhhh BIG HAIR DONT CARE *hair flip*

So yesterday we left Vernon and headed for Penticton. We didn't really do much besides drive around farms and visit scenic places. We went to this giant hill where at the top there was a nice view.

wilfred tee, american apparel shorts, american eagle sandals, american apparel backpack

Walking up that path felt more steep than it looked, and it felt like I was going to literally slip because my sandals have like no grip but yeah. It's actually a pretty peaceful place. And even though the sky doesn't look like it in that photo, it was actually really really warm and sunny. I actually love how sunny the Okanagan is. I think the temperatures were over 25 degrees celsius which doesn't happen much for Vancouver. But there's some photos I took at the top.

Idk I really like the look of these photos. Hahaha but yeah. We also visited this park/beach area with a giant peach concession stand (which I googled and found out it's called Rotary Park) and it was surprisingly hot.

Being here made me realize what a nice happy place this is. It was so sunny and hot and across the street from the lake was just rows and rows of cute little restaurants with their patios filled with people eating and sitting, and shops with inflatable pool items and swimming gear, and tons of people just walking around, and it just looked like a nice place to live. But at the same time, I don't think I could deal with living in such a small place. I'm too much of a city person to move to the valley. Plus it feels strange being in a place where Asians are the minority.

We intended to find a u-pick farm so we could pick some fruit, however there weren't very many around, so we ended up just buying some fresh local fruits. We went to a farm where there was a really kind old East Indian couple with a friendly Rottweiler selling cherries and peaches and such. We ended up buying A LOT of fruit from them (I think like 23 pounds of cherries and like 30 pounds of peaches????? ya my parents are cray). We actually went to them twice; we went yesterday and we also came back again today to buy more. My parents engaged in conversation with them except it was kind of hard because both of them are, well, fobs I guess, so it mainly consisted in them repeating what they were saying a bunch of times and the other person going "ahhhhh yes you mean ___" and answering. Meanwhile I was petting the Rottweiler because he just looked so lonely and sad and bored. I think he was an old dog because he was just really slow and calm. As we were trying through acres and acres of farmland, we came across some deer!

We didn't get very close because we didn't want to scare them away because they looked kind of wary of us. There were a couple fawns too! They were so cute. There's just something about fawns that I think are adorable. I remember before when I saw so many photos of them on tumblr and stories of how people found lost fawns and I wanted to find one too hahahah.

Anyway we went to White Spot to eat afterwards and I got the truffled mushroom flatbread and I didn't take a photo of it because I was so hungry and it was so good and I completely forgot. My sister gave me her Caesar salad that came with her burger and I ate that too hahah. Afterwards my sister and I split a fresh blueberry pie.

The sky was getting really cloudy but it was pretty and still warm. Look at McDonalds there lol. While we were outside on the patio, there was some lightning which I totally disregarded until I realized that it was lightning (idk in my head I was like, oh something just flashed, ANYWAY.....) and yeah. When we got back to our inn (this time we stayed in Best Western and we had a little suite so my sister and I shared a room, my parents shared a room, and my brother took the sofa bed) there was thunder and lightning and at one point (okay I know I'm addicted to the internet and social networking okay) THE WIFI WENT OUT AND I ALMOST CRIED BC HELLO I NEED INTERNET TO SURVIVE hahaha and yeah. So we called the front desk and the guy there (I think the manager) had a high voice and told us he'd fix the wifi and eventually he did and yeah. We spent the rest of the evening just chillin in the suite and yeahhhh.

I made some decaf black tea and just laid there in bed and yeah meanwhile my sister was doing homework and studying for her university physics stuff (lol @ her). It was really great having separate rooms from my parents because they like going to bed at like 10 pm which is WAY too early for me so since they had their own little room they just went to bed at whatever time they pleased meanwhile my siblings and I stayed up til about 1 pm until my dad got up and told us to sleep hahaha.

Did I mention that I finally went to physiotherapy????? Okay well I went on friday FINALLY after delaying this since January (according to my doctor's note lol oops) and my physiotherapist is a nice friendly lady with eyelash extensions (I noticed okay). I had to do various stretches and core exercises because I have horrible posture where my spine is too curved inward at my lower back thus my muscles there are REALLY tight. Apparently I need to strengthen my core and yeah. So she told me to do these exercises daily until I book another appointment with her in about a week and yeah. Yesterday for the first time in many days, I laid down in bed with my lower back feeling fine!!!! I was so nice because lately when I lie down my lower back literally feels like it hurts more and I have to put a pillow under my knees if I'm lying on my back or between my knees when I'm lying on my side to help (I googled this okay idk but it works) and yeah. The first session was $60 though and I have to continue paying for each session and I feel horrible about it because my parents have to pay but at the same time I feel like I really need this to improve my back. Once I start getting paid, I think I'm going to try to pay for some of it too.

And then this morning it was time to leave and go home!!

(I'm a snapchat obsessed bitch ok)

OMG BTW DO YOU SEE THAT THE BOW OF MY IPHONE CASE CAME OFF???? Omg I really have to glue it back on because it just isn't the same without the bow and quite frankly it looks retarded without it omg. Okay anyway.

So yeah we drove home and we got home at around 5 pm and I literally fell onto my bed in happiness because I really missed my bed even though it was only 2 nights without it but still. This trip wasn't very eventful but at the same time it was nice to get away.

And can I just say that 'Ride' by Lana Del Rey is one of the most beautiful songs to ever exist??? Omg I heard about it so long ago but I never really bothered to listen to it until now and it was now literally one of my favourite Lana Del Rey songs.

I was listening to it almost the entire trip and I don't even know how many times I listened to it but it was on repeat like forever. This is literally one of my favourite songs by her now and I don't know how many times I said 'literally' here now but this is LITERALLY BEAUTIFUL. I think my favourite songs by her are probably 'Ride', 'Blue Jeans', and 'National Anthem'. Ahhhhhhhhhhh okay I'm done.

vernon

So I'm on a bit of a family vacation right now in the Okanagan (kinda lame I know). Right now I'm in Penticton just lying here doing nothing in the inn. Yesterday I was in Vernon. We didn't do much, we just drove around. My parents wanted to come here and go to those u-pick farms and pick some fruit but apparently we came at a pretty shitty time where cherry picking just ended and peach picking is in about a week. But here are some photos from Vernon.

h&m muscle tee, american apparel shorts, boots from winners (idk what brand), american apparel backpack

We stayed at Village Green Hotel and there was a small mall across the street with very limited shops but I bought a denim vest from Target that I'll post pics of when I get home. This photo is from Winners and I'm wearing a pair of shoes that I really really really really wish I bought bc they were so so so cute but I decided not to bc they cost $50 and I'm broke rn and I didn't want to ask my mom to pay. But yeah. Oh ignore my sister in the background there.

Me and a giant cock hahahahah (p.s. peep dat foot tan ugh)
My phone camera detected this creepy thing as a face omfg
I decided that this pretty picture didn't need a filter lol #NOFILTER

I have some pictures I took today from Penticton but I haven't edited them yet so I'll probably post them tomorrow or the day after, and I also took some photos with my disposable camera so once I develop those, I'll probably scan them and post it too and yeah.

Later y'allll
