shopping + dine out vancouver

On Friday I went to Metrotown with my friend Kimberly and then I ate at the Boathouse at English Bay with my friends Karman and Madalene for our first Dine Out!

So first I went to Metrotown because of the American Apparel Student Mixer where you get 20% off everything in the store. I was planning on getting the tennis skirt in white but in person it looks so cheap?? And also it didn't look very nice on me lol it made me look like some sort of anime girl idk. So I ended up getting a medium wash denim scrunchie and that was about it. I also picked up a free watch from AA (forgot to take a pic tho) but it wasn't super cute or anything.

I also bought another tube of the Benefit Porefessional. This is already my third tube but seriously this stuff is so great. It makes my foundation apply so much more smoothly!! And after that we went to Zara because I was looking for a new coat and I found this baby!!

I'm not sure how much it costed originally because another sticker covered it, but I'm guessing it was $120?? Regardless, I got it for $80 so I'm pretty happy. Although it's a size small it's still a little bit big on me, but at the same time I really like the more looser look with this coat. It makes me feel like Lindsay Weir from Freaks and Geeks yenno??? Except it's navy not green I guess.

Then afterwards I met up with Madalene and Karman and we bussed downtown. We're honestly so so sad and directionally challenged (especially me bc I was looking at a map hahaha). We got off the bus by English Bay and we literally walked the complete opposite direction of the Boathouse.... ya really. And we walked about 3 blocks wondering where the fuck the restaurant was until we realized that we walked the wrong way, so we bussed back up and we got to the restaurant. When we got there though, we had a reservation for 8pm but we didn't get a table until 9 because apparently people were lingering a bit longer than they expected. The wait honestly wasn't that bad though, because we had tons to talk about since we all go to different schools now so we barely ever see each other (though we have this cute fb group chat where we're those girls who screenshot things and show each other and laugh).

For my appetizer I got the West Coast Seafood Chowder, for my entree I got the Coconut Pacific Cod, and finally for dessert I got the Seasonal Creme Brulee. Overall the food was pretty good, but really filling! I didn't get a pic of the seafood chowder, but here's the other dishes:

I'm horrible at taking food pics. It's so much harder than it looks!! Like it's so hard to capture the food and actually make it look appetizing. Yea anyway we basically sat there for the longest time just laughing and chatting and catching up. And also, we were like "Wow look we're actually doing something on a Friday night!!!!!"

And yesterday I went for my second Dine Out with my friend Chrystal who I met at UBC!! We went to Hapa Izakaya on Robson and the food was so so so good but at the end we were just so full. I didn't take any pics of the food but Chrystal did so here's a pic I stole from her ig

Since it's an izakaya we shared most of the food. We got Fresh Oysters, Negitoro (that's the garlic bread and chopped tuna up there in the pic!! it was soooo good, probably my fave), Pork Belly Lettuce Wrap (in the upper left of the pic), Ebi Mayo (tempura prawns, but not like the ones you get from sushi restaurants; they're like actual prawns and covered with a delicious mayo sauce), Oyster Motoyaki (baked oysters with potato, sauce, etc), and Oyster Risotto. The last dish, the risotto, was rice, oysters, mozzarella, onion, carrot, mushroom, green beans, cream miso broth and served in a hot stone bowl. It was so yummy but by then we were getting surprisingly full. And we burned our tongues on the risotto because when we got it, it was super super hot and steaming and bubbling for the longest time, and after waiting a few minutes we just couldn't wait to try it so we did and despite blowing on it forever, it was so really hot! I think I'm going to eat at Hapa Izakaya more often.

We also took a polaroid at the restaurant!

Afterwards we went down to Metrotown and we walked around for a bit. Here's a mirror pic we took in Zara!

my outfit: topshop tank top (under) and shiny leggings, h&m sweater, zara coat, alexander wang rockie bag, dolce vita boots

We dropped by at Aritzia and I saw the cutest soft furry sherpa coat ever!! I believe it's from Wilfred, and it's originally $225 on sale for $75!! Unfortunately it didn't come in my size anymore (the smallest one was a medium and I tried that on and it was far too big on me sigh). Afterwards we grabbed Qoola because we decided that we had walked off our meal hahaha.

And yea, so those were two pretty good days, but now I have to study for an online chem quiz that's supposed to be done over this weekend and I have absolutely no clue what's going on right now. Great. Okay bye!!
